Audience: This lesson is designed for middle school physics students. Student will have a working knowledge of navigating websites and posting to wikis and blogs.
Content: In this website module students will begin to explore the discipline of optics. Optics is the study of light. Optics is one area of concentration within the larger field of physics. Physics examines all matter and its movement. This website is dedicated to allowing students to discover the answers to some common optical phenomena. Students will explore questions such as: What causes light to bend? What causes light to reflect off water? What causes a rainbow?
Course of Study for Learning Module:
Focus Areas:-
Light Overview,
Light Reflection
Light Refraction
Dispersion of Light
Competency Goal 1: Light Reflection
The learner will have a working knowledge of the properties of light reflection.
Objective
1a. Learner will be able to determine the occurrence of light reflection.
Occurrence Within Module Assessment and Wrap-Up.
Objective
1b. Learner will be able to describe light reflection.
Occurrence Within Module Assessment.
Objective
1c. Learner will be able to capture and image of light reflection (images/ videos).
Occurrence Within Module Wrap-Up.
Competency Goal 2:
Light Refraction The learner will have a working knowledge of the properties of light refraction.
Objective
2a. Learner will be able to determine occurrence of light refraction.
Occurrence Within Module Assessment and Wrap-Up.
Objective
